Step-by-step instructions for students enrolling in class accounts.
Introduction
For years, professors have been using ݮƵclass accounts to make financial concepts more engaging and interactive. With class accounts, you get to work with real-life accounting and finance data. On the ݮƵplatform, you can dive into the data to complete your assignments, whether you're working from home, in class, or in a lab. You can also access the ݮƵJupyterHub to create Jupyter notebooks to work with the data.
Students may be enrolled in concurrent classes within the same semester.

Switching from a Class Account to a Different Account Type
Class accounts are only active for the length of the course they’re tied to. You will lose access to ݮƵonce your class account expires. If you think you’ll continue to need ݮƵaccess after your class ends, it may be a good idea to upgrade your account. For example, if you are an undergraduate or master's student you can upgrade to an Undergrad/ Master’s account. That way you can continue to use ݮƵafter the class is over. You should start this process prior to your Class account expiration date, while you still have ݮƵaccess.
Switching to a different account type is easy, but does require verification and approval by your institution's ݮƵrepresentative. Use the following steps to request a switch from a Class account to another type of account.
- Select Your Account Info from the drop-down menu in the navigation bar.
- Click the Request Account Upgrade button under Your Account information.
- Select the type of account to which you want your account to be changed.
- Enter a new expiration date for your account. The maximum time allowed for the new expiration date is determined by what kind of account you are switching to.
- Click the Submit button.
Subsequent Class Accounts
You can enroll in a new class account after your current class account is finished by using the following steps:
- Log in to WRDS. The site will prompt you for another Class Code.
- Enter the new Class Code and follow instructions on the screen.
